Automat wins Canada Regional for Startup World Cup
Toronto, October 19, 2017 – Montreal-based startup, Automat, was awarded the Startup World Cup Canada Regional, at CIX (Canadian Innovation Exchange) yesterday.
Startup World Cup partnered with CIX to host its first ever Canadian regional competition. This regional competition was held on October 17th and 18th, 2017 as a part of the annual CIX event in Toronto at the Hilton Hotel.
Startup World Cup is a global conference and competition with the goal of bridging startup ecosystems worldwide. There are 30 regional events across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, leading up to the Grand Finale in US Silicon Valley. This is the first ever event of its type, organized by Fenox Venture Capital, a Silicon Valley-based multinational VC firm.
SWC judges selected Automat, from the final CIX Top 20 companies, and Co-founder and CEO, Andy Mauro, accepted the cup on Oct 18 at CIX. Automat will represent Canada at the Startup World Cup Grand Finale in San Francisco on May 11th, 2018 and will compete alongside 29 other startups from all over the world for a chance to win a US $1,000,000 prize in investment.

Startup World Cup 2017 featured top industry experts, including Steve Wozniak (Co-Founder of Apple), Alexis Ohanian (Co-Founder of Reddit), Guy Kawasaki (Former Chief Evangelist of Apple and distinguished author), and Daymond John (Star of ABC’s Shark Tank & CEO of FUBU).
